Hey there! My name is Julian and I live in Redmond, WA, USA . I'm originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina , and I moved to the US in 2021 after living in Vancouver, BC, Canada  for about 2 and a half years. I live together with my beautiful girlfriend Lucia, and our two plushies, the "This is fine dog" which we call Rodo, and Stitch from Lilo & Stitch (no, we don't want to have actual pets, I'm more than enough work for both of us).

I am a software engineer by trade, a computer scientist by training, and a mathematician by passion As I was getting my CS degree, I found out I actually really like math, so I ended up enrolling in a math degree as well and taking a lot of courses. I never actually finished because well, I moved to Canada to work at Microsoft. I did finish my CS degree though, and I've been working in the industry since 2015. . I started playing around with computers and coding when I was around 10 years old, and I've been doing it ever since (yes, it was due to Hackers, and yes, I know it's a cliché).

I've been a software engineer working on the CloudBuild  team in 1ES  at Microsoft since 2019. I help ensure Microsoft's builds are correct, secure, fast, and passing for many of our product teams, including flagship products such as Windows, Office and Azure. My particular focus is on the distributed build engines we use to run the builds, as well as the infrastructure that supports them.

My approach to work is as a systems thinker first, and an academic second. I like to understand the big picture and how things fit together, and then dive deep into the details to earn system-wide wins. I'm a big fan of learning new things, and I'm always looking for ways to improve my skills and knowledge, so I spend a lot of time absorbing new information and trying to figure out how to retain and apply it.

Academically, my main interests are distributed systems, databases, and programming languages, along with a healthy dose of statistics and machine learning. I have been lucky to have opportunities to work on projects that have touched on all of these areas. My pet interests the last couple of years have been rationality and decision-making .

In terms of hobbies, I enjoy playing electric guitar (though I suck, I can not emphasize that enough), doing hiking -and backpacking in the summer!-, yoga, and weightlifting. I am interested in way too many things for my own good and chronically lacking time to do everything I want to do. I'm not too fond of either TV or movies, but I do enjoy an hour a day or so of Netflix. I like to spend a lot of time reading, mainly blogs, papers, and books. My guilty pleasures are League of Legends and occasionally RuneScape, neither of which I recommend picking up.
